More Black & White Film

I really love getting back film these days. There’s always some real gems in there, and it’s surprising. Not like when you can look at the back of the camera to see where you’ve made a mistake. The mistakes you make with film are the really great images. This is a roll that I’ve been carrying around for a while and finally finished it off a couple of days ago.

October-Grey-Feature

October Grey

Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold for an expected outdoor shoot, and with limited time (Geoff, Matt and Jase from October Grey were just passing through to another gig) we opted for a very quick studio shoot. Looking forward to getting an opportunity to work with the boys again, next time in an urban setting.

Tamika-Feature

Tamika Wilson & Lindah Sriamporn

This weekend I finally finished off post-production on a shoot I did with Lindah and Tamika a month ago. It’s been a long time coming as other priorities have come up (funny how that happens) but I was really excited to get these finished and published somewhere. Although a simple thing, it’s always really flattering when I see my photos being used for facebook profile pics.

Lingerie Photographer with Tamika Wilson

Tamika Wilson

I’ve been busy over the past few weeks with several shoots, and several more coming up! My list of photos I need to edit is getting bigger, but I’m not letting that phase me at all. One of the things I really enjoy about this gig is working with people who are good at what they do and who take the time to work with me to get the best possible shot. Thanks to Lindah Sriamporn I managed to work with Tamika Wilson. Both of these girls are from the northern part of New South Wales and are a real breeze to work with. In fact you can hardly call it work. Hope to work more with both of them and will be sharing the results here.

More of Lindah Sriamporn

After a few hectic weeks packing, moving and setting up a new place on the Gold Coast, along with starting a completely new project, I managed to start getting back into the swing of things. One of these shoots was with Lindah Sriamporn, who I shot with a couple of months ago at Byron Bay.  Some amazing shots here with a new look that was completely unexpected.

Lindah Sriamporn

I had the privilege to shoot with Lindah Sriamporn over a few locations throughout the last few weeks. As a purely portfolio shoot we managed to get a lot of different styles in including a great day at a remote beach in Byron Bay.

The Incredible Kicks Rock Band Promotional Image

The Incredible Kicks

A few shots from a recent shoot of Brisbane rock band “The Incredible Kicks”. Shot at the apartment of one of the band members, this was a really fun morning with plenty of laughs, and with a fantastic result.

Their bio reads:
If it were the 1600′s the Incredible Kicks would have been writing thirty four flute fugues. Instead, they’re stuck in the 20th century the age of near infinite musical genres. If you take the lift up past “Alternative” all the way up to “Prog Pop”. Then jump through the nearest window and take a flying fox over to the next building. That’s where you’ll find The Incredible Kicks. Casual and friendly, with a tendency to go a little bit over the top. When writing a song, if the question is raised, “should we go there”? The answer is always yes. Travis Hair on lead vox/ guitar, Josh Griffin on drums/vox and Luis A Bran bass/vox, The Incredible Kicks are desperate for the opportunity to infect your ear holes.

Advice for new models

I was recently asked to provide feedback to a model who had just entered the industry. She came to the photo shoot with a designer friend of mine and proved to be an absolute pleasure to work with. I am lucky to have worked with a number of fantastic people who are all professional and incredibly easy to work with. My advice to her was to keep doing what she was doing: 1) great communication; 2) relax and have fun. There are many websites dedicated to teaching new models how to do what they do, but these two things will always put you above the rest in my book.

Hillbrook Semi-Formal

I had the pleasure of shooting the wonderful lads and girls from Hillbrook as they embarked upon their semi-formal aboard the Kookaburra Queen. Without sounding like my grandparents, it struck me how teenagers today have grown up with instant digital photography. Most of these young adults were adept at posing and getting the best look from a camera, without having to be told. Back in my day you’d have to spend hours in front of the mirror perfecting blue-steel or magnum before shooting a roll of film. Now you can take 16GB of photos and get that perfect look. Here are some of the photos from the event.

Back in Brisbane

I’ve been back in Brisbane for two weeks and for various reasons this was the first opportunity I got to take out my camera and make (what I am beginning to call) meditation shots. I used to walk at South Bank at least once a week until about 4 years ago. I’m not sure why I stopped but what I loved about it was the way it constantly changed and how the people are so relaxed and just out having a fun family (or no-family) day. In addition, there is an amazing amount of wildlife mixed in with the urban structures. It really is a lovely place to visit, even if it’s just to snap a few photos.
