Emerging Gold Coast Designer Concept Store Launch
The Gold Coast Fashion Incubator opened it’s new store at Sanctuary Cove, rebranded as the Emerging Gold Coast Designer Concept Store with a fashion parade of the designers involved in the store.
Otto Ford 2002-2011
It’s a little known fact that most of my best work was ghost written by a grey cat called Otto. He collaborated on most of my band’s material, offered advice and teachings on living life to the fullest and delivered amazingly furry, fishy hugs when they were most needed. Unfortunately today my little friend lost his three month battle with a mysterious disease. My heart goes out to his parents Clayton & Siobhan, and his little brother Rocky. As a memorial, I’d like to present some photos of Otto at his best.
Travel well Grey Cat. We’ll miss you.
Update
It’s been a little while since I posted last. To be honest I’ve been ridiculously busy which has meant some things have had to suffer (blogging being one of them!) Of course at any time you can follow me on my facebook page, which is updated a little more often.
The Incredible Kicks – Press
The Incredible Kicks are a band I’ve worked with a bit lately, and really proud of some of the work I’ve done with them. They are a bunch of great guys and it’s worth checking them out at http://www.reverbnation.com/theincrediblekicks if you get the chance. They are about to release some new material which has prompted a lot of new press, most of which is using images I worked with the band on. The image used in the attached article was actually taken with a Nikon F65 on B&W film with a large softbox lighting them from the right and a window providing ambient light on the left. It’s a testament to bringing your old gear along with you, because you never know what great images you will get.
Studio Shoot with Kathryn Kawazaki
I have been getting very bored shooting against seamless lately. What makes it a lot better is when I am able to work with talented models who push their personality out into the image. Kat is one of these models and despite shooting against white seamless the whole shoot was fun and we managed to experiment a little with sets, props and colour. More to come!
Drama, theatre and costume
This shoot was by far one of my favourites ever, I had been looking forward to it for weeks. William Kutana is a talented designer who had created four amazing theatre costumes and needed them photographed. What struck me about the costumes is the attention to detail, not just in their creation, but in the background stories and in the characters they represented.
Snakes!
They* say that lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off. We thought why not have some fun without lying and as a consequence the wonderful Shannon Keane was introduced to three beautiful pythons: Murray, Coasty and Darwin. Within a short period they all became acquainted and got on with the job. There was no biting, very little hissing, and only a… well actually a large… incident. All up though it was a lot of fun to work with the snakes and was great to have Shane there to make sure everything went smoothly. Enjoy!
More Black & White Film
I really love getting back film these days. There’s always some real gems in there, and it’s surprising. Not like when you can look at the back of the camera to see where you’ve made a mistake. The mistakes you make with film are the really great images. This is a roll that I’ve been carrying around for a while and finally finished it off a couple of days ago.
October Grey
Unfortunately the weather didn’t hold for an expected outdoor shoot, and with limited time (Geoff, Matt and Jase from October Grey were just passing through to another gig) we opted for a very quick studio shoot. Looking forward to getting an opportunity to work with the boys again, next time in an urban setting.
