2012 Portfolio
I had a knock on the door yesterday from a courier delivering my new 2012 portfolio. It turned out amazing and I’m really happy with how it’s presented, by client rather than by genre. Some great images and really looks, feels and smells amazing (yes, smells!).
I’ve decided to make a public portfolio (with the same images as my commercial one) available for purchase. It would make an amazing gift or coffee table book in my opinion. Mine cost nearly double this price to print, but thanks to the joys of the internet I can get them to you for the low, low price of $265 + postage. It may sound expensive but this is an extra large 33 x 25.4 cm book with over 60 pages of terrific photographs. I should know because I made it. So please use the link below to purchase now!
Nearly 2012
I’m amazed that it’s nearly 2012. This year has gone so quickly and there are so many good moments, I’m so grateful for the people I’ve worked with this year. I’m in the process of updating my portfolio for 2012 and wow, I’m so lucky to have worked with everyone I have. I’m looking forward to the next year and if you are looking to book, get in soon!

Technology Improving Art, Crowdsourced Advertising
“New York-based fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff is running her first print ad in October, and she’s turning to her followers on Instagram to help her design it.” – read more here!
I’ve always seen Instagram and other apps as gimmicks and or gadgets that will go away when the fad is over. I’m slowly changing my mind due to pro-photographers using them more and more. And now they are actually being turned into productive tools through crowdsourcing images for advertisements. I’m actually pretty impressed with how this may work and I will be keeping a close eye on this!
You can follow Rebecca Minkoff on twitter. I’m also on twitter, but probably need to improve my usage given some of the great stuff that is coming out lately!
Fashion Blogging Grows Up
I read a lot of blogs, normally through Google Reader and normally focussed on Fashion, rather than Photography. Here is an interesting article from Mashable about fashion bloggers and the future of online commentary in the fashion industry.

Update from Michael
I’ve been insanely busy over the last month (as well as having a week off with tonsillitis!) but it’s been great! I just wanted to provide a quick update so you know that I’ve been missing blogging and keeping you up to date on what’s happening.
Donnie Bishop Shoot with Rob Bampton & Kyle Berry
Working with Rob Bampton and Kyle Berry for Donnie Bishop Models. It was a freezing night out and we managed to get a great couple of shots out the front of Broadbeach here on the Gold Coast.
BusinessGC Ready To Wear Parade

Mishka Martini
There are not many people I love working with as much as Mishka. She comes to a shoot well prepared and willing to go the extra miles, similarly she often pushes me to be more creative and challenges me to get the right shot. It’s also good when you can have a level of communication that transcends words. Where ‘can you.. yeah.. sort of.. um… yeah that’s it’ – can result in exactly the right pose. And ‘what if we.. sort of.. mm, you know’ can be accurate enough to get perfect lighting.
